ACT 4- CYCLONE ALFRED

Writer: Callum EadeCallum Eade

So, the story so far...

March 2021- COVID changed all our lives. Swim postponed. Interestingly, this situation created a me opportunity. We met Mike Twigg-Smith. Mike would be my new captain for the Hawaii swim. Mike is a seasoned warrior of the channel and know's her well.

April 2024- a false start. We got in the water at Molokai, but Queen Ka'iwi was not ready to meet us. I also was not ready. As one person said to me, I stood at the doorway but didn't step through. Attempt abandoned 2 hours into the swim.

October 2024- Atrial Fibrillation- heart surgery. November 2024 scheduled attempt postponed.

March 7 2025- Cyclone Alfred- 10 days before departure to Hawaii.

We remain on track. I'm feeling really good about the last 3 months training, mental and physical. With the month of March completely off work, the weeks have been swim, eat, rest, repeat.

Right. Let's see how this week goes.
